Sunday School
Sunday School is for children who are 4 years old through 3rd grade. We start with a time of singing and learning about God's Word in exciting ways as a whole group in the large room in the basement. We then break into small groups by grade level to apply what we have learned from God's Word.
Niekerk Nursery
Child care is provided for infants and toddlers for both morning and evening worship services. The infant nursery which is for ages birth to 1 1/2 years is located at the bottom of the stairs. The toddler nursery, ages 1 1/2 to ? years old, is located in the first room beyond the kitchen.
Little Lambs
Niekerk has a program for our three-year-olds called Little Lambs. We meet during the morning worship service September through May. Our goal is to worship with the children through story and song so they can learn to serve God at their level.
Pre-School Worship
Pre-school Worship is for children who are 4 years old by the 3rd Sunday of September or who are 5 years old and not yet in kindergarten. This group meets during the evening worship service in the choir room for a time of singing, followed by an activity time, a Bible story, and a craft, all taking place in the large room in the basement.
Children's Worship
Children's Worship meets every Sunday during the evening worship service September through May for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade. During their worship times, the children learn to worship God at their own level, with all the elements of adult worship being utilized (welcome, greeting, prayer, Bible lesson, Bible reading, singing, etc.).
Catechism
Catechism instruction is following on the promises made at the time of infant baptism. The instruction is on themes of Scripture: Creation, Fall, and Redemption geared to the age level being taught.
Junior Choir
Junior Choir meets on Sunday morning from 10:45 to 11:45 am in the choir room for rehearsals. We meet from October through March on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Sundays, singing during the 3rd Sunday worship service, and having the 4th Sunday off. All 4th through 8th graders are encouraged to join with us in singing songs of praise to God.
Gems Glub
The GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) Club is open to girls grades 2nd through 8th. The 7th and 8th grade girls will discuss topics relevant to them in following a Christian lifestyle. We enjoy Bible lessons, crafts, and merit badge activities. The girls are encouraged to complete badge work that cover a wide variety of interests. Special events, fund raising activities, and service projects take place each year.
Cadets
The Cadet Club is open to boys ages 9 through 14. It is designed to help boys grow spiritually in all areas of life: spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. The program is lead by Christian men dedicated to encourage and assist in the development of these youths. Special activities include campouts, canoeing, service projects and sports outings.
78 Club
78 Club is a junior high program designed for 7th and 8th grade students and their friends. We meet once a month for various social outings. This fall we will be playing laser tag, going to a corn maze, hanging at En Gedi for a lock-in, and raising money for a Christmas project for kids in
Guatemala. Winter brings an awesome retreat at Camp Geneva and more social outings. This year we are excited to be starting Bible Studies on the 2nd and 4th Sundays from 4:30 – 5:50 p.m. – why don’t you join us?
Youth Group
The Youth Group at Niekerk welcomes all high school age students (grades 9-12) and their friends into its fellowship. Oasis, our Sunday evening program, meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays from 7:15 – 9:15 p.m. At Oasis we eat dinner, discuss current issues facing youth today, worship together, and learn how to develop spiritual habits in our everyday lives. Youth Group students also have the opportunity to participate in Bible Study every other week, service nights, a winter retreat, social events, and a summer mission trip. M&M (Young Married Group)
The Mr. and Mrs. Group meets socially several times throughout the year. Our M&M Peanut events are intended for the entire family. M&M "plain" are events for "grown-ups." Come to them all or just the ones that appeal to you!
Men's Accountability / Study Group
Niekerk has a small group of men who meet weekly to discuss the implications of the Bible on their lives and provide Christian support for each other. The current group gathers at our youth building on Wednesdays at 6:00 a.m. and new members are welcomed at any time.
Martha Society
The Martha Society meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of September, October, November, March, April, and May. This year the Martha Society is studying the book of Acts.
Sunday Night Bible Study
Sunday night Bible study groups are held from October through May and the groups are changing mid-year so that many different people can meet together. Meetings are held on a rotating basis in the member homes. We welcome everyone to join us!
Summer Bible Club
The Summer Bible Club is a 6-week program one night a week in the summer for developmentally impaired adults. It is very much like a summer Bible School. Teachers, helpers, craft leaders, recreational leaders and snack servers are just some of the ways to get involved.
Summer Hockey Rock
Hockey Rock is a 6-week summer program held one night a week, 5:30-8:30 p.m., in Niekerk's parking lot welcoming kids/youth from our community (3rd graders - high school). Hockey Rock offers a lot more than roller hockey: basketball, volleyball, frisbee golf, and kickball; and for those who just like to hang out, we have activities in the youth building too. Each evening CD's are given away and a meal is provided.
